New President for Cleantech Switzerland
07.06.2011
The export platform, Cleantech Switzerland, will soon be under new management. The current president, Uwe Krüger, will not run for re-election at the General Meeting on 17 June, as he will be taking over the management of the multinational company WS Atkins plc, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange, from 1 August. The announcement of his succession will follow as soon as possible.
Uwe Krüger, who has been in charge of the export platform, Cleantech Switzerland, since its developmental stage in 2010, has decided not to run for re-election as president at the General Meeting on 17 June, as he will shortly take on a new role. As of 1 August, Krüger will be CEO of WS Atkins plc, a multinational engineering company, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange. He takes on this role following the successful launch of the export platform, which is now fully operational.
Daniel Küng, CEO of the Swiss foreign trade promotion Osec and President of the Export Platforms Steering Committee, thanked Uwe Krüger for his extraordinarily high level of dedication during the launch of Cleantech Switzerland, one of four export platforms created as part of the economic stabilisation measures as state projects that could be rapidly set up. Osec was commissioned with the development of these platforms at the end of 2009. In the meantime, all of them are fully operational.
“Uwe Krüger was a real stroke of luck. He set up the platform within an extremely short time period, which meant that Cleantech Switzerland could quickly establish itself as a fully-fledged partner in the relevant sectors. I wish Uwe Krüger great success in his new position,” Daniel Küng said, adding that Uwe Krüger had given Cleantech a name in Switzerland.
A positive interim balance at Cleantech Switzerland
Uwe Krüger also drew a positive interim balance of the association, which has been run by Generis AG since May 2010. “I thoroughly enjoyed helping Swiss clean-tech small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the environmental and energy sectors on the export markets. I am convinced that Swiss SMEs have both the extraordinary innovative strength and expertise in clean technology needed to take on a leading role on the international markets. Along with my colleagues from the board and office, and in very result-driven cooperation with all of the federal authorities – particularly the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs and the Swiss Federal Office of Energy – we were able to develop the platform successfully in the past months and to achieve our first positive export results with Swiss SMEs.
Cleantech Switzerland certainly needs to intensify the contact to SMEs and to base market processing consistently on their needs. Cleantech Switzerland can count on a well-run office and experienced board members. Along with Osec, the Swiss Business Hubs, and the embassies and consulates, partners with superb international expertise are available to provide support,” Krüger underlined.
