CompPair Technologies

What if composite materials were self-healing?

The result of 12 years of research at the EPFL's Laboratory for Processing of Advanced Composites, the bio-inspired technology developed by the start-up CompPair uses an innovative chemistry. By heating damaged composite materials to a temperature of between 100 and 150°C, it allows the parts to repair themselves, while retaining their initial properties. This innovative technique reduces maintenance costs, decreases manufacturing defects and extends the life of composites. It is a way of giving a second life to materials whose recycling would be costly and not very ecological!
