(Event in French) Despite all the efforts made since the beginning of the century to limit greenhouse gas emissions, it is clear that a global reduction is unfortunately still a long way off. The challenge of climate protection is now compounded by that of adapting our living environments to the consequences of climate change. As home to the majority of the population and jobs, cities and urban areas are at the forefront of this transformation, especially since they are warming more than the surrounding countryside due to the urban heat island effect. <\/p>\n\n
Analysis of today’s cities shows that they are not really suited to the expected global warming. Without a series of rapid, significant and convergent actions, their habitability could be partially compromised in the medium term. Faced with this development of uncertain magnitude, multiple adaptation measures have already been clearly identified to have a positive impact on built, public and landscaped areas. Low-tech acclimatization of buildings, demineralization of urban surfaces, strengthening of fertile networks, preservation of fresh air corridors, tree planting in public spaces, and a significant increase in urban canopy are all concrete ways to anticipate these unavoidable challenges in an ambitious and creative manner. <\/p>\n\n
Entitled \u201cTowards bioclimatic cities?\u201d, the 2025 Urban Transitions Forum will address this crucial issue for our built environment from a variety of angles. Various urban planning, landscaping, architectural, and systemic issues will be presented at this event, with the aim of providing an overview of key parameters, innovative approaches, and pioneering experiences. Thanks to the diversity of the examples presented, this event is aimed at practitioners, teachers, researchers, politicians, and public service providers interested in transition and, more broadly, in qualitative developments in urban areas. <\/p>\n\n
The aim of the Urban Transitions Forum, which takes place every two years, is to promote knowledge transfer and direct exchange between people from different backgrounds, particularly between the private and public sectors, on a current and future topic of importance.<\/p>\n\n
