Founded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/eliemarkmaalouli\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Elie Maalouli<\/a>, a Canadian-Lebanese engineer with 15 years of experience in electric mobility, the company is developing portable, autonomous energy solutions for airports. Supported by The Ark Foundation in 2025, the startup aims to deploy its first proof of concept in 2026.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> \u201cBefore takeoff or after landing, the plane\u2019s engines are running,\u201d explains Elie Maalouli. The energy required to power the aircraft\u2019s systems generally comes from burning jet fuel or diesel. The figures are telling. \u201cHalf an hour of the aircraft being on standby is equivalent to a flight from Geneva to Milan. This results in a significant amount of wasted energy and high CO2 emissions, without the aircraft even moving.\u201d It is precisely to address this energy waste that Aerostrad developed its technology.    <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A mobile power solution for airports<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aerostrad&#8217;s solution is a portable, self-contained power system that can be moved to wherever power is needed at the airport. This approach makes it possible to power aircraft on the ground without relying on traditional diesel generators. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From a technical standpoint, the startup has opted for a proven technology. \u201cFor now, we\u2019re using lithium because it\u2019s already established and production costs remain low, while also fitting into the airport\u2019s existing infrastructure,\u201d explains the founder. This means there\u2019s no need to develop new infrastructure.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What sets Aerostrad apart in its development is its early-stage business approach. \u201cWe\u2019ve built relationships with airports and identified potential customers to understand their needs and tailor our product to support them,\u201d explains Elie Maalouli. The startup targets two types of customers: airports and ground handling operators. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A proof of concept in 2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The year 2025 marked a first step for Aerostrad as it entered the pre-incubation phase with The Ark Foundation. For 2026, the plan is to develop a \u201cproof of concept.\u201d Elie Maalouli hopes this can be done in Sion.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This phased rollout strategy should enable Aerostrad to validate its technology under real-world conditions before expanding to larger airports.
