Their solutions range from an edible coating for food and ventilation and air-conditioning systems that can be operated more efficiently thanks to data-based analysis, to a high-resolution weather model that makes electricity production from renewable sources easier to plan. Which companies combine ecological impact and economic success most convincingly will be decided in September by a jury chaired by former Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Green Business Award recognises companies that combine ecological impact with economic success and scalability. For the first time, the award will be presented in two categories: SMEs \/ Corporates and ScaleUps. An interdisciplinary preliminary jury has selected three finalists in each category.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00ab Les finalistes montrent o\u00f9 l&#8217;\u00e9conomie dispose du plus grand levier d&#8217;action : dans les b\u00e2timents, l&#8217;\u00e9nergie, les cha\u00eenes d&#8217;approvisionnement, la production et les mat\u00e9riaux. Leurs solutions sont d\u00e9velopp\u00e9es en Suisse, mais r\u00e9pondent \u00e0 des d\u00e9fis d&#8217;envergure mondiale \u00bb, d\u00e9clare C\u00e9dric Habermacher, directeur de Green Business Switzerland.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In September, the finalists will present their solutions to the jury chaired by former Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard. The two winners will be announced at two events: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>SME \/ Corporates category: 3 September 2026, Maillot Vert Summer Festival, Lucerne<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ScaleUps category: 12 February 2027, Impact Circle Event, Gstaad<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These six companies impressed the preliminary jury the most and have reached the final:<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>SMEs \/ Corporates category:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.infomaniak.com\/fr\">INFOMANIAK NETWORK SA<\/a>, from les Acacias (GE)<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Energy-efficient data centre with heat utilisation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Infomaniak shows that the growing demand for data centres does not necessarily have to lead to higher resource consumption. With its underground D4 data centre, the Swiss cloud provider fully reuses the server heat generated: Infomaniak feeds it into Geneva\u2019s district heating network, heating around 6,000 flats in winter. In summer, the heat is enough for around 20,000 showers a day. The data centre operates without conventional air conditioning and without water for cooling, and runs entirely on renewable energy. Over an operating period of 20 years, the system saves around 58,000 tonnes of CO\u2082. Infomaniak documents the model as open source, making it usable for other locations as well.     <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.belimo.com\/ch\/fr_FR\/\">BELIMO Automation AG<\/a>, Hinwil (ZH)<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Data-based optimisation of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Buildings are among Switzerland\u2019s largest energy consumers. With RetroFIT+, BELIMO addresses precisely this area. The company analyses the condition of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems using data, identifies efficiency potential and prioritises effective measures. This reduces energy consumption, CO\u2082 emissions, as well as operating and investment costs. Existing buildings can increase their energy efficiency without extensive renovation.    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.voegeli.ch\/fr\/?_gl=1*kmv2jw*_up*MQ..*_gs*MQ..&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQjw39zSBhDhARIsANammDvbOe-x3rOPn7ganfY4zSlltHVNEkWENU6PPFjkB1oOUpHwEhMmTl4aAvdfEALw_wcB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">V\u00f6geli AG Marketingproduktion &amp; Druck<\/a>, Langnau (BE)<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Printing and packaging solutions based on the Cradle to Cradle Certified\u00ae principle<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">V\u00f6geli AG shows how circular economy can be implemented concretely in print production. The family-owned company produces magazines, mailings, packaging and games according to the Cradle to Cradle Certified\u00ae principle. Specially developed printing inks and selected materials enable circular products without problematic pollutants. Production takes place at the Langnau site without direct CO\u2082 emissions. V\u00f6geli was the first printing company worldwide to achieve Cradle to Cradle Certified\u00ae GOLD for printed products and packaging.    <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ScaleUps category:<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.agrosustain.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AgroSustain SA<\/a>, Renens (VD)<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Edible coating for fresh produce<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The shelf life of fresh fruit and vegetables often determines whether food is consumed or discarded. This is exactly where AgroSustain comes in: with Afondo, the company has developed an edible coating for fresh produce. It extends shelf life, preserves quality along the supply chain and reduces food losses. At the same time, transport can be planned more efficiently. In certain cases, it also enables a shift from air freight to sea freight. AgroSustain thus combines less food waste with lower emissions and economic benefit for producers, trade and retail.     <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oceansafe.co\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OceanSafe AG<\/a>, Berne (BE)<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Biodegradable and recyclable high-performance materials<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With naNea\u00ae, OceanSafe develops a high-performance material for textiles, particularly as an alternative to conventional polyester. It is biodegradable, recyclable and free from critical additives. Fibres that are released can biodegrade, helping to reduce the microplastics problem in the textile industry. naNea\u00ae can be integrated into existing production processes and scaled globally through partners. This enables high-performance textiles with lower CO\u2082 emissions and fewer problematic chemicals \u2013 without additional costs for customers.    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meteomatics.com\/fr\/\">Meteomatics AG<\/a>, Saint-Gall (SG)<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>European weather model for precise forecasts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Precise weather data is becoming increasingly critical for renewable energy, infrastructure and risk management. With EURO1k, Meteomatics is developing a high-resolution weather model for Europe and parts of North Africa. While global models usually work with a resolution of around 20 kilometres, EURO1k calculates weather data on a one-kilometre grid. This allows local weather events such as thunderstorms or hail to be forecast more precisely up to 72 hours in advance. It helps companies and infrastructure operators identify weather risks earlier and manage their operations more effectively.
