Depoly, a startup based in Valais that was named Switzerland’s most innovative startup last year, has announced that it has already secured more than 50 million francs in contracts related to its chemical plastic recycling operations. These contracts will be fulfilled following the opening of their new plant, which is set to open this summer in Monthey.
DePoly has reached a major milestone today. The Valais-based startup, which specializes in the chemical recycling of PET and polyester, has secured commercial contracts worth a total of 50 million francs, even before the official opening of its demonstration plant. This is a major achievement for a company that has been ranked among the Top 100 Swiss Startups since 2020 and will remain so continuously through 2025.
A first in Switzerland, in Monthey
The Monthey plant is in the final stages of construction. It is scheduled to begin operations this summer, with full-scale production expected to begin in the fall. This facility will be Switzerland’s first plastic monomer recycling plant, capable of processing up to 500 tons of PET and polyester per year. The materials processed come from post-consumer and post-industrial textile and packaging waste, including unsorted and mixed waste.
The 50 million francs in contracts come from international clients—ranging from the European Union to Japan—operating in the packaging, bottling, plastic film, and specialty polymers sectors. This is concrete proof that DePoly’s technology meets a growing global demand for effective recycling solutions.
