2010-2025: what developments can we expect in the energy sector?

The Smart Energy Event will be held for the 15th time on 28 and 29 August at the Energypolis Campus in Sion. To mark the occasion, the organisers – The Ark Foundation and CleantechAlps – have put together a ‘best of’ edition. Some of the most influential speakers from previous editions will return to take stock of developments in the energy sector in Switzerland and around the world. Have the promises made at the time, in a world still reeling from the Fukushima nuclear disaster, been kept? We will find out at the end of August. The full conference programme and ticket information are available at www.eventsmartenergy.ch.

Since its inception, Event Smart Energy has established itself as an essential platform for discussing transformations in the energy sector. A landmark event in French-speaking Switzerland, each edition has examined the changes, promises and innovations that have shaped this field. The 2025 edition will provide an opportunity to look back and see how technologies have evolved, but also how investments have changed in Switzerland, Europe and rapidly developing countries such as China.

A round table discussion and start-ups

Swiss and international speakers, most of whom have already spoken at previous editions, will share their experiences and provide an update on Friday 29 August. They include Espen Mehlum from the World Economic Forum, René Kerkmeester (Capgemini, Netherlands), Nicolas Charton from E-Cube and Markus Moor from Emerald Venture Technologies.

A round table discussion will address the future of electricity grids, with Assia Garbinato (Romande Energie), Sylvia Marra (OIKEN), Michael Weinhold (Siemens), Christian Schaffner (ETH Zurich) and Emanuele Colombo (Swissgrid). In the afternoon, three start-ups that have made their mark in the energy sector will share their experiences. The event will begin on Thursday 28 August with a keynote speech, start-up pitches and a networking dinner for energy specialists.

Registration is now open at www.eventsmartenergy.ch, with preferential rates available until the end of June. The event is expected to attract around 180 energy specialists from across Switzerland.

Simultaneous translation from French to German will be provided on site for participants.
