16 cleantech startups among the 100 most promising Swiss startups in 2026

Top100 Swiss Startup Award has unveiled its 2026 ranking of the most promising Swiss startups. This year, 16 cleantech companies are among the 100 winners, once again highlighting the dynamism of Switzerland’s cleantech ecosystem. Voltiris stands out in particular, taking 4th place in the overall ranking as well as the title of “Hottest Cleantech Startup 2026.”

Since 2011, the Top100 Swiss Startup Ranking has annually highlighted the startups considered to be the most promising in Switzerland. The ranking is compiled by a jury of 100 investors and innovation experts, who evaluate, among other things, the startups’ potential for growth, their ability to transform their industry, and their long-term impact.

Among these experts is, once again, Eric Plan, our secretary general. As a member of this year’s jury, he is helping to identify and highlight the startups that contribute to the dynamism and competitiveness of the Swiss innovation ecosystem.

For the 2026 edition, 16 startups active in the cleantech sector have made the Top 100, with solutions that address a wide range of challenges: renewable energy production and storage, heat recovery, the circular economy, emissions reduction, pollution control, and energy efficiency.

Voltiris in a very strong position

Ranking fourth overall, Voltiris posted the best cleantech performance in this year’s competition. The Vaud-based startup was also named “Hottest Cleantech Startup 2026.”

Voltiris develops solar modules specifically designed for glass greenhouses. Its technology allows the same surface area to be used for both agricultural production and electricity generation: it lets through the wavelengths necessary for photosynthesis while using the rest of the light spectrum to generate renewable energy.

The solution thus helps improve farms’ energy independence while reducing their carbon footprint and lowering temperatures inside greenhouses during the summer.

Already deployed in some 20 projects around the world, Voltiris’ technology is now entering a phase of scaling up. The company anticipates 7 to 10 new projects in 2026, representing potential revenue of approximately CHF 7 million.
