Paprec and Metabader are joining forces to become the national leader in recycling

Paprec Swiss Group and Metabader, the Swiss scrap and metal recycling expert, are joining forces to combine their expertise. The resulting group, Paprec Metabader, has become the Swiss leader in recycling and operates 31 plants and branches throughout Switzerland.

Paprec has been operating in Switzerland for more than 15 years. The group initially expanded its presence in recycling and confidential data destruction in German-speaking Switzerland through well-known brands such as Lottner, Lopatex, E Müller, Data Ex 4000, Rewag, Multimetall, and Reisswolf.

The group established a strong presence in French-speaking Switzerland in 2024 with the acquisition of Helvetia Environnement. Paprec Swiss Group, headquartered in Geneva, then had nearly 700 employees across 20 plants and offices throughout the country.

The Metabader Group is a family-owned business founded in the 1940s in Mont-sur-Lausanne, in the canton of Vaud. Specializing in the transportation and recycling of materials—particularly scrap metal and other metals—the company operates at 11 sites, mainly in the western part of the country.

Two family groups with shared values

The two groups announced their alliance today, which positions the combined entity as the national leader in recycling.

Jessy Bader, CEO of Bader, has been appointed CEO and partner of Paprec Metabader. He stated: “I am very happy and proud of this merger: Paprec Metabader represents the union of two families that share environmental convictions, a commitment to industrial excellence, and a dedication to customer service.”

As part of this transition, Jack Bader will also support the new team with his experience and knowledge of the issues to ensure a smooth and effective transition.

“I am very pleased with the trust that Jessy and Jack Bader have placed in us. The combination of our expertise and the establishment of a very tight regional network will enable us to offer our industrial clients and local governments customized services that allow them to recycle and recover value from their waste as effectively as possible. Paprec Metabader is thus dedicated to addressing the environmental challenges facing these regions,” adds Mathieu Petithuguenin, CEO of Paprec. Christophe Gence will continue to manage the company’s operations in German-speaking Switzerland.

Paprec Metabader’s capital is predominantly Swiss. In addition to the two families, its shareholders include the Swiss infrastructure funds Clean Energy Infrastructure Switzerland 3 KmGK, managed by Swiss Life Asset Managers and UBS, and Reichmuth Infrastruktur Schweiz KmGK.
